Basis of Faith | Aims of the Association | Our Principles
Aims of the Association
- To promote and foster the fellowship of Christians in the Police Service in that unity which is enjoyed by those who are born again by the Spirit of God.
- To demonstrate this relationship to God in a concern for righteousness both on and off duty.
- To obey Christ in proclaiming his gospel, especially to members of the Police Service that they might be brought to know Him personally.
Basis of Faith
The Christian Police Association is non-denominational. In other words, we have members who are Baptist, Church of England, Methodist, Episcopalians and Presbyterians and from many of the other mainstream traditions. We are also a member of the Evangelical Alliance. What unites us is our belief in the following principles found in the Bible:

Top of PageWe believe that there is one God revealed through the Scriptures as a Trinity of three distinct persons; the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.
We believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God and that He became a man born of a virgin through the power of the Holy Spirit and that He lived a sinless life on earth.
We believe that in His great love Jesus died for us and for our sins and in so doing suffered the judgement of God on our behalf, that we might be forgiven, be reconciled to God and brought close to Him.
We believe that His physical body was raised from death to life and was witnessed by many; that after His resurrection, He ascended and returned to His Father in Heaven where He reigns with Him and intercedes on behalf of all those who have believed in Him.
We believe that Jesus will return to earth personally as He promised.
We believe that the Holy Spirit is still at work convicting of sin and turning people to a new life in Christ. He helps them to change and live their lives according to God’s will, making them more like Christ.
We believe that the Bible is the inspired Word of God without error and is the only complete authority in all matters of faith and doctrine.
We believe that sin entered the world when man chose to disobey God and please himself. Since then sin has affected the core of humanity, touching every part of our nature and being.
We believe that it is only by God’s grace and mercy that the sinful person is made right with Him through faith in Jesus Christ alone.
We believe that the soul of a person is eternal and that there will be a physical resurrection of the body for everyone who will then be judged by the Lord Jesus Christ. Those who have died having believed and received forgiveness will be raised, and together with those believers who are still alive, will be taken to live with Christ forever. Those who have refused to believe will be condemned from God's presence forever.
We believe that all Christians have an obligation to demonstrate their true allegiance to Christ by obeying His commands and living lives that please Him.

- Ethical Values:
- To make a lasting impact on society, Christians need to demonstrate their adherence to biblical ethics.
- Proclamation:
- Communication of the gospel is an essential element in bringing people to faith in Christ.
- Organisation:
- A group of people that are of one mind and are focused on the individual, group, and task needs are likely to achieve their goals.
- Finance:
- Sound financial stewardship is essential in pursuing the vision of an effective organisation.
